At the Oktogon intersection, which dates as far back as the early 1870s. The Budapest authorities originally gave this public square the name Nyolcszögű, of which Octagon is the ancient Greek translation. It was known officially as Oktogon in the 1920s. The street name changed several times to reflect the country’s political regime changes before eventually reverting to it’s original name. Read more.
