Oświęcim, Poland, 2018

All over the world, Auschwitz (Oświęcim) has become a symbol of terror, inhumanity, and mass genocide. The camp was established by Germans in 1940, in the suburbs of Oswiecim, a Polish city that was annexed by the Nazis.

On January 27, 1945, Soviet troops arrive to the camp to find 7,000 survivors. This somber experience will remain among one my most memorable. To all the victims of genocide, political violence, and religious discrimination, may you all find peace among our people.
